Midlife Transits

Our so-called ‘midlife crisis’ is a pivotal point in our lives where we experience numerous significant planetary cycles where certain planets form specific geometric patterns to our individual natal chart.  These can trigger a cascading series of problems for people involving marriages, careers and our even our own self-identity.  However, if we look at these issues through a slightly different lens, we can develop a much greater understanding of ourselves and move beyond the crisis to create a more balanced and authentic life. We sometimes need turbulence to give us the jolt required to review our life path. Why did we choose this path? Is it still the best path for us or are some adjustments needed?

The key planetary cycles occur at the age of 29 when Saturn returns to its natal position; in our early 40s with the opposition of Uranus to its natal position; and the return of Chiron to its natal position around the age of 50. Interspersed between are hard aspects with Pluto and Saturn that add to the overall tension and emotional issues that arise at these times.

These astrological aspects coincide, or more accurately, trigger parts of our psyche that lead us into our midlife turbulence.  The trick is to intentionally tune in and use the planetary cycles instead of being used by them.  There is deeper symbolism and synchronicity to midlife major events.

We can use these cycles as tools to transcend the prevailing levels of conflict and problems, to move beyond excessive stress to attain new stages of growth. The key life passages provide us with the opportunity to ignite our unique potential, individuate and really become ourselves.

Astrology can offer tremendous insights for understanding the hidden meaning behind these difficult times, providing whole new ways of understanding the process of growth and transformation as part of everyday life. It can give assistance in terms of direction and approaches that will help us to best assimilate these intense life experiences, utilising them to transform ourselves through the powerful energies of change that are part of our soul’s learning experience.
